Electric Radar is prohibitively expensive for material cost, and the process of setting up electricity for every scan is more annoying than just dropping in a fuel can. Replacing the Biofuel Radar with the workshop one will allow the same procedure with much higher accuracy. This will allow using the Biofuel Radar in the G slot to hunt down the vein, then building and deploying the extractors onsite. When a vein is empty, it will lose its purple glow and extractors will shut off.Įxotics must be sent to Orbit using the Orbital Exchange Interface to get credited the Exotics.įor soloing, an efficient strategy is to use the Biofuel Radar and Electric Extractors, by carrying a small base, electricity source, and fabricator with materials to build extractors.

Three types of radar can be used:īiofuel Radar - poor accuracy, runs directly off a can of biofuel, approximately 15 scans on a full canĮlectric Radar - good accuracy, runs off electricity, by wiring up to a Biofuel Generator or Solar Panel To find exotics deposits on a MIssion, use a Radar. The Payday: Extraction prospect introduces the concept of exotics deposits extraction, but completing this mission is not required to be able to discover or take advantage of exotics deposits. However even after finishing Deep Vein, this is rare enough that seeking out exotics in caves is generally inefficient: they're better viewed as a bonus while otherwise using caves normally. Standard caves (those with cave worms) have a location within each that can spawn an exotics node. Exotics nodes are not impacted by yield increases from pickaxes, so any pickaxe will return the same randomized amount from each node. Exotic nodes may be found in caves or on the surface, a prospector can mine that node with a Pickaxe.
Following that prospect, if successful, exotic nodes will appear in any other prospect the prospector undertakes. Prospectors first encounter exotic nodes during the Deep Vein: Extraction prospect. They cannot be found on Open Worlds or Outposts. Exotics can be found in any mission except Potshot. They were the reason why terraforming failed on Icarus, but now their unique properties are sought after by the various Factions seeking to exploit Icarus.Įxotics are found in two forms on Icarus: nodes, and deposits. Exotics are the most valuable Mineral harvested on Icarus.
